Woooohooooo.....

Well the office found today that we will have SUMMER HOURS starting next week! Starting next Friday until the Friday before Labor Day we get off work at 1pm every Friday...I so very very excited!

A good bit of my summer plans were contingent on getting off at 1pm on Fridays. So worked out great for me!

So needless to say this has been a good week at work. It has also been pretty busy for a holiday week. Usually it starts to slow down this week and stays that way through the summer. Well I have a bunch of "special projects" to do.

I hope everyone is having a great week and has a wonderful weekend!!!!

Projects, Projects...

This week I have been working on some home decor projects. The first project is a set of framed campaign photos. I've been wanting to do the project for a while but I couldn't find frames that I like well these were on sale so I decided I liked them :).
I love them I would do 20 more but I think that would be weird....

This is very cool...It is a big ole' "H". I got it at JoAnn's when Kennedy and Paige were here. It is paper mache. I spray painted it black! Then I hung it next to my front door! I like it.

The "H" had been hung one time before but fell at 5am one morning....scared me! Anyway so far it has stayed on the wall for the last four days! I hope that it stays that way.

Well...

All is well this week in Tennessee! Not a lot going on. It is pretty quiet. I finished two big projects at work one last week and another on Tuesday. The summer is usually our "slow" time at work....so it is starting to slow down a bit.

We are all patiently waiting to hear if we are going to do "summer hours". We haven't heard anything yet and we are afraid that it isn't going to happen. Just a reminder...summer hours are I get off at 1pm every Friday....so I'm very hopeful!

This weekend Governor Huckabee will be speaking at a church in Nashville so I'm going to hear him speak. There are also going to be a few folks from the campaign in town so I'm excited about getting to see them. I'm also very excited about the three day weekend.

I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week and a great weekend!

Migraines & Acupuncture...

Well I had five wonderful weeks migraine free! That is no small praise in itself but to consider how busy the last three weeks have been it was a HUGE praise, blessing, answer to prayer. For three straight weekends I have had visitors which I love but it effects my schedule which causes migraines usually. I made it through those three weeks without a migraine.

Webster defines migraine as:
Pronunciation:
\ˈmī-ˌgrān, British often ˈmē-\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English mygreyn, from Middle French migraine, modification of Late Latin hemicrania pain in one side of the head, from Greek hēmikrania, from hēmi- hemi- + kranion cranium
Date: 15th century
1 : a condition marked by recurrent severe headache often with nausea and vomiting
2 : an episode or attack of migraine

I would also define them as a "time thief". Well the five weeks ended today with a migraine of all migraines. So starts the rest of the story...

For the last five weeks I have been going to acupuncture once a week. This is to treat and prevent migraines. Right now I'm going once a week. Hopefully I will get to the point where I will only have to go to acupuncture every once in a while when I have a migraine or feel like I'm about to get one. The fact that I'm not having to miss 2-3 days of work a month is AWESOME!

Well today I went to acupuncture. When I left I didn't have a migraine. My head is so sore...which happens after every migraine. Usually a migraine like the one I had today last at least 2 days sometimes 3 days. The headache "hangover"/head soreness would usually be on the 4th day. The fact the the migraine is gone this afternoon is great! So needless to say I'm a happy camper.

One thing that my acupuncturist talks about a lot is how every thing in the body works together makes perfect sense. So he works on that when I don't have a migraine. He does that to prevent the migraines.

To me as a migraine sufferer it was always my goal to figure out what the "trigger" is for the migraines. When I think I figure it out some thing else happens to cause the migraine. So the acupuncture is "treating" my whole body.

Acupuncture: an originally Chinese practice of inserting fine needles through the skin at specific points especially to cure disease or relieve pain.

Okay so acupuncture maybe so weird to a lot of folks...I will agree to some a degree little needles sticking out of your body...yes a little weird. IF you can get passed the needles it is SOO worth it.

Anyway I will keep you folks posted!

Fashion From SteepleChase...

There is a "hat fashion contest" at SteepleChase each year. So there are some really interesting hats. Below is a picture of the most unique hat...it is a swan on top of that lady's head. It seemed heavy because she had to hold on to it. It was a very interesting hat.

Due to the muddy conditions this year there were a lot of boots. Below are a couple of the more interesting boots I saw.

68th Running Of The Iroquois SteepleChase...

Saturday I went to SteepleChase. Below are the some of the pictures. It rained a bit when we first got there but look at the beautiful clear skies from the afternoon. It was A LOT muddy.

Picture of our feet after walking in....gross

On the way out it was super muddy....more than it was when we arrived. It was due to foot traffic plus the organizers/volunteers had gators and golf carts.

If there was an accident to happen...it would happen to me...I fell in the mud. I caught myself with my hands it was SOOOO nasty. Thankfully it happened when we were leaving.

It was a lot of fun!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY...

I'm so lucky and blessed to have you as my mom!

Week In Review...

Well I should start with last weekend. Paige and Kennedy came for a visit last Thursday and went home on Sunday. We had so much fun! Of course it rained pretty much the entire time they were here.

On Friday we went to Opry Mills Mall to do a little shopping, had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe and went to the Opryland Hotel to look around. I would say probably the favorite thing for all of us was the Opryland Hotel. As Paige said it is like being outside without being outside. We finished up Friday with some painting!

Saturday morning we went to downtown Franklin (one of the few brief moments that it didn't rain), had lunch and then went to Target....we needed some more arts and crafts supplies for Saturday afternoon. Saturday afternoon we spent baking cupcakes, doing craft projects and more painting. Saturday evening ended with a "pretend" birthday party for Kennedy....candles, cupcakes and decorations...really don't know how to explain that one...except it was fun...

Sunday morning we went to church and then had breakfast/brunch/lunch. Paige and Kennedy got on the road. They had a little mishap and had to come back. Then got on the road again a bit later. I will post pictures from the visit soon.

It was so much fun having them here! I talked to Jude on Saturday morning and he asked to see my house so maybe next time Jude will make the trip.

This week has been a busy one at work. I'm working on several different projects. I have three different email addresses for the different projects...it is fun but sometimes hard to keep straight.

This weekend is another busy one...I'm going to SteepleChase. Some folks from the Huckabee campaign are coming into town and then there are several that live here. So we are all going together. Should be fun! The races do not get cancelled due to rain so it should be interesting!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I Wonder If They Stole This Sign...

It isn't easy to see but do you see the sign in the back of this truck? I wonder why they have a sign in the back of the truck? No signage to indicate that they worked for the city!

Do Not Try This At Home....

This is a picture of the lobby in the new office. The guy is standing on a water feature we have in our office. It is a 2,000 pound marble ball that has a water pump underneath it and the ball is suppose to spin. It hasn't worked since we moved in...they continue to work on it. They have changed the pump and they have added rocks and LOTS of water still no spinning.

So this guy works with me. He decided he wanted to climb on top of the ball...so he did. The boss of out of town. I had my handy dandy blackberry so I took some pics. A stupid moment really isn't fun unless someone is there to record the memory with pictures! He didn't fall. He made it down just fine and we had something to talk about for the rest of the day.

The Anti-Theft Device...

While Jody and Jodi were on the way to visit me they stopped to eat lunch, their truck was broken into and most of their stuff was stolen. Well when my Mom and Dad were getting ready to come visit me last weekend...my Mom came up with this idea...

Yes that's a rubber snake in the back seat on the suitcase. I laughed but it was a good idea. Just so you know that snake is very realistic. My brother has had it forever. He got it for his birthday when he was younger.

FYI: If you are ever traveling through the state of Tennessee do not stop in Lakeland just outside of Memphis!
