Quotes...

We have a small office space. I have my own office with a door. There are a little over a dozen other people in the space and we can hear what's going on all over the office. There very little privacy. Everyone hears every conversation telephone or otherwise.

We have this one guy who is a SUPER loud talker. He is also a little...well what's the word...crazy. So it isn't uncommon for someone to hear something he has said over the phone and an email will go around with "the quote of the day" as the subject line. This is how we entertain ourselves.

Quotes are a big deal around here...we have a quote wall. Almost everyone in the office in their "personal space" has a quote printed out or written on a dry erase board.

The quote currently on my dry erase board: "You can be stupid or you can open your mouth and remove all doubt!"

Update...

It has been crazy at work since I have gotten back from Iowa. It has been so busy that last several days. The phone and emails have been so busy....but lots of fun too. I still haven't caught up on my sleep. I don't feel like I ever will.

We did take a break from work this weekend. One of the guys drove down from Iowa for the weekend. A group of us floated the Caddo River on Saturday afternoon. It was lots of fun and relaxing to just float.

I don't have a lot to report other than the campaign is going great. We are busy and moving ahead. The next mile stone is the Iowa caucuses.

Pictures from Iowa...

I have picked a few of my favorite pictures from Iowa. It was hard for me to find only a few to post. I wanted to post ALL of them. I hope you enjoy.

AWESOME...

I am still in Iowa. For those of you who don't already know Governor Huckabee came in 2nd place in the Iowa Straw Poll. We are so EXCITED! This is exactly what we needed and wanted. It was amazing to be in a group of over 100 Huckabee supporters when the announcement was made. It was what the staff had been work towards all year.

Just to give you an idea of my day yesterday. It started at 6:30am with a bus ride to Ames, IA. I registered Huckabee voters and handed out straw poll tickets all day long. It was over 100 degrees. Governor Huckabee's band played, we had BBQ, Hope watermelon, snow cones, popcorn and the very important water.

The results were announced at around 8pm last night. There were a lot of hugs, tears, laughs and pictures. Governor Huckabee was mobbed by tons of media. He left Ames, IA last night with over 100 people shouting. "We like Mike". Yesterday was definitely on my top ten of most amazing days.

We started saying on Friday..."Tomorrow changes the rest of our lives." and so it starts. I will post pictures soon!

I'm In Iowa...

I've made it to Iowa. I'm sorry for the delay in posting. I thought I would have time to post this morning but no such luck.

There are a few first in my life experiences just on the bus ride.

  1. Riding a bus for 9 hours
  2. Trying to use "the facilities" in the back of a bus going down the interstate
  3. Being at a Flying J at 3:00 am
  4. Visiting Iowa

I hope to have pictures soon. All is well

Still Going To Iowa...

I'm still going to Iowa but there has been a change. I am riding a charter bus to Iowa. We are leaving at 8pm Thursday night and driving thru the night. We will arrive in Iowa EARLY Friday morning. Anyone who knows me knows that I am NOT a morning person...so this will be an interesting test.

I'm so excited about going that I think that will cancel out the terribly early arrival in Iowa. I will keep you posted. Hopefully I will be able post while we are on the road. I'm pretty sure I will not sleep thru the night.

I'm going to Iowa...

Ames to be exact. Four of us from the office are leaving Friday morning and will be back on Sunday night. We are going for the Iowa Straw Poll.

What is the Iowa Straw Poll?
The Iowa Straw Poll is the most important event on the 2007 calendar for the Republican candidates seeking the Republican nomination for President. As other states continue to front-load the Presidential nomination calendar, Iowa's position at the front of the nomination process brings more significance in this cycle to both the Iowa Straw Poll and Caucus. In 1999 the first and second place finishers at the Iowa Straw Poll went on to receive over 70% of the vote in the Iowa Republican Caucuses in January, an indication of the importance that each campaign places on doing well in the Iowa Straw Poll. The Iowa Straw Poll has also historically winnowed the field of presidential candidates. In 1999 just two days after the Iowa Straw Poll, Lamar Alexander ended his campaign for president after a poor showing at the event. In October of the same year, Elizabeth Dole ended her campaign after not exceeding expectations in the Iowa Straw Poll. While the Iowa Straw Poll is not binding, it has become the first real test of each campaigns organizational strength. (Information from the Straw Poll website)
All that said...this is an important test for the Huckabee Campaign! Governor Huckabee did great in the ABC debate on Sunday morning. His numbers are increasing in Iowa and all over.
I'm so excited to get to go to the Straw Poll! I will keep you posted. I'm sure I will have a story or two and some great pics!

15 Of My Favorite Movies....

Below are a list of some of my favorite movies. These are the movies that if they are on TV during the weekend I stop what I'm doing and watch. They are in no particular order.

  1. Steel Magnolias
  2. Dirty Dancing
  3. Shag
  4. A Walk To Remember
  5. Can't Buy Me Love
  6. The Goonies
  7. The Great Outdoors
  8. Footloose
  9. Sixteen Candles
  10. Top Gun
  11. Three Men and a Baby
  12. Runaway Bride
  13. Bring It On (I know)
  14. The Ice Princess
  15. My Big Fat Greek Wedding

The funny thing about this list...I was only going to do 10 but then I thought of 11 and then 13 so I felt like the listed needed to be 10, 15 or 20. So I stopped at 15.
