Toddlers and Tiaras...

Okay...overall I do not think beauty pageants are bad. However I have watched Toddlers and Tiaras a few times. When a 3 year-old has fake hair pieces, fake eye lashes, fake teeth/teeth whitening and tan...there is a problem. Also, butt glue!?!?! Do you know what butt glue is?! Well it is stuff that you spray on to keep a bathing suit from riding up...what 3-year-old needs butt glue?!?!

I've been watching the show this afternoon...I've seen these little girls show more skin then I've shown in my whole life and are wearing more makeup then I wear in a week.

I've watched mothers make children get on stage and watched mothers promise their kids things just to get the kids to do what they want. There was a lady on today's show that moved back into her mom's house so she could afford to pay for her little girl's pageants.

I'm pretty sure that if a mom is middle of the road or let's their girl decide if they want to be in pageants aren't going to be on the show. So I know that all "pageant moms" aren't like the ones that are on the show...

Just venting....

Happy Birthday To You...

Happy Birthday to my mom! I hope you have a WONDERFUL day!
I love you!

SIDE NOTE: I had some pictures to post but I wanted a place to stay the next time I come to Arkansas for a visit...so I decided not to post those pics! My mama didn't raise no fool! :)

Weekend...

I had a great weekend. The weather was so nice.

1. Opened up my windows to let the apartment "air out". There is just something about fresh air that makes the apartment feel clean.

2. I started cleaning my apartment...you know really cleaning...I'm getting ready for a visit from two of my favorite family members...more about that later.

3. Saturday afternoon/evening I drove to Chattanooga to see a very dear friend of mine, Kristin. Kristin and her sister stayed with me for a bit while they were in Arkansas working on the Huckabee campaign. She was in Chattanooga for a wedding. I drove down and meet her for dinner and coffee. I enjoyed having time to catch up with her.

4. Sunday morning I went to the early church service...8am...I know anyone who knows me will know how crazy this is...I love the 8am service...just something about being at church first thing in the morning.

5. Sunday late morning I finished my laundry and made a list of things I needed to do this week.. love lists getting to cross stuff off when they are finished...love it.

6. Sunday afternoon I took a nap...nothing like a nice Sunday afternoon nap.

7. I finished off my weekend by watching the Amazing Race. It is one of my favorite shows. I haven't decided who I want to win. I know who I don't want to win and I have been happy with the teams that have been eliminated up until this point.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

What I Miss In Arkansas...

Ed's Bakery smiley face cookies. Don't get me wrong I miss my family and friends...most days I miss them more than Ed's smiley face cookies..just kidding...

There isn't really anything that makes a day better than one of those bright yellow cookies. Oh...just so you know I eat the smiley face's eyes first..just one of those things.

When I lived in Conway I would stop on my way to work and pick up some cookies...it was a special treat in the Gov's office.

NKOTB...

That's NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK for those of you that are too young or hhhmmm more mature to remember them. Well they are on tour again...a reunion tour...I'm not so sure New Kids on the Block fit them anymore. They are older than they were back in the day but they are sticking with it.

Well I had tapes, T-shirts and pins. I remember when they came to Little Rock. They had a concert at Barton Coliseum...I didn't get to go...I would assume that I was mad about it back then. Well I'm pretty sure I wasn't very happy about not getting to go.

One of the girls that I work with is going to one of their concerts tonight. I can't wait to hear about it tomorrow...I'm hoping they sing more of the old school stuff instead of new stuff. For your listening enjoyment I have added a NKOTB play list...don't worry I don't stay up FOREVER!

My Bookstore...

I love going to the bookstore. I'm one of those people that will walk around a bookstore for hours looking at books, pick up books and reading the jacket or back of the book. I also love libraries...all those books.

I was thinking the other day what if I had a bookstore. My bookstore would have a coffee/tea shop, comfy chairs and a no cell phone rule. I would want to sit in one of my comfy chairs, sip tea and read all day..which leads me to the reasons my bookstore would not be profitable. I wouldn't want to be bother with things like customers and I could prefer for it to be very quiet...no questions....so I should probably just visit other peoples book stores and read at home!

Happy Friday....

Happy Friday to all of you! I hope you have had a wonderful week and have plans for a nice relaxing weekend. Whatever your idea of relaxing is...I know relaxing is a relative term!

Well our office is moving today...we "shut down" at 1pm today and move to the new office. In theory we will be business as usual starting at 8am Monday morning. It is rainy and cold here today so a great day to move.I've mentioned this before but I'm super excited about my new office space it has walls and a door.

I don't have huge plans for the weekend. It is suppose to rain all weekend. I was watching the weather last night and the meteorologist said..."when I say rain all day...I mean make indoor plans". So maybe I will run by the bookstore on my way home tonight to pick something up to read.

Next Friday is the first day of spring...I hope spring weather is soon to follow. It is amazing yesterday there was ice coating tree limbs that had small green buds on them.

Happy Birthday to Cary Condray...his birthday is tomorrow. I also hope The Condray clan gets to feeling better so they can help him celebrate!

Have a great weekend!

The Secret Life of Bees...

I forgot to mention that I couple of weeks ago I watched The Secret Life of Bees. Of course a total chick flick (that's really all I watch). I must say I love ON DEMAND with Comcast cable...this is in no way an endorsement of Comcast but of ON DEMAND. Most movies you have to pay for but there is a nice selection of free movies that changes once a month. I've been able to find old movies that I've wanted to watch.

Okay so the movie of course wasn't as good as the book. It did have a great cast. I'm a huge fan of Queen Latifah...great actress...I think. Great story line and wasn't hard to get into. Also, for anyone who has watched a movie based on a book with me...you know throughout the movie I will say things like, "that didn't happen in the book" or "I wish that wouldn't have changed that"...I didn't think that too many times during this movie.

Why I read this book. I usually read book reviews when looking for a book to read, I will take suggestions from friends/coworkers/strangers or walk around a bookstore picking up books until I find one that from the book flip sounds interesting to me. Well when I worked at the Governor's office I worked with this wonderful, amazing lady named, Trudy. She was always reading something. Well she brought in The Secret Life of Bees one day and made all of us in the scheduling office read the book. We all listened to her and read the book...that's what you did it was Trudy....random story but every time I think about The Secret Life of Bees I think about her.

I recommend the movie and of course the book!

My Favorite Things...

These are a few of my favorite things! Well a lot of evenings end with hot tea and honey. It started when I was sick with bronchitis.

Who doesn't love a honey bear?

Tea options...

This is called tension tamer...I should probably take this one to work!

I've ALWAYS wanted a whistling tea kettle. When I started drinking hot tea on a regular bases I decided I needed one. Of course it had to be red.
Hot tea is a great way to relax after a long day. Usually I get ready for bed while the water is boiling, fix my tea, get into bed and read while I sip my tea...love it!

An Office With A Door...

We are moving office spaces on Friday. The company I work for purchased a floor in a brand new building.

So on Friday I go from a cube with 6 foot walls to an office with full walls AND a door...very awesome. I've worked in both a cube and a office. It wasn't until I worked on the campaign that I had a door....I loved having a door.

I'm looking forward to the new space plus everything is brand new..the desks, carpet, walls, etc. I'll post pics once we get settled.

Knit Two...

I read most of the weekend. I went to the book store on Saturday afternoon. This book is the second in a series...I don't know how many more the author is planning to write but I hope there are more to come. Kate Jacobs is on her way to being at the top of my list of favorite authors. Of course she will be sharing that place with Nicholas Sparks.

Anyway back to the book. The first book was The Friday Night Knitting Club. The books are about a group of women that become friends because of their love of knitting and the time they spend together knitting on Friday nights obviously. When I read The Friday Night Knitting Club and this weekend when I read Knit Two I had the urge to learn to knit. I still might.

Kate Jacobs also has one more book that I haven't read. That books is called Comfort Food. If anyone has read Comfort Food let me know. That will probably be the next book I read when I have a weekend that I can spend reading.

Pictures Of The Snow...

It snowed sometime between 11pm and 12am on Saturday night. I stayed up late on Saturday night reading. I think it snowed again very early morning on Sunday. Some places in Tennessee got 10 inches of snow....just about 100 miles west of Franklin.

This tree is right in front of my window...I like it because when I have my window open the people across can't see straight into my apartment.

I didn't see any snowmen or anyone playing in the snow in Franklin...I don't think there was quite enough.
